Born in 1979 in Northern Germany, Dr. Jennifer Cords has lived, studied and worked in Germany, the Netherlands, the US and Canada. She has 15 years of experience in campaigning, communication, public and corporate affairs.

Cords has over 6 years experience in representing German Economy (especially car-and meat-industry and retail) lobbying for small and medium-sized enterprises in Hannover, Berlin and Brussels. Dr. Cords officially toured Canada and the US on a Governmental promotional tour ("Invest in Germany") in 2010, working with embassies, Goethe institute and Rotary International.

Later in the same year she joined Imperial Brands, the 4th largest tobacco company in the world, promoting the concept of "Tax Free" on international grounds. She is an expert for all designated Duty Free areas such as airports, border stores, military, airlines, diplomatic stores, ferries and cruises. In 2012 she widened the scope of Corporate Affairs to include Business Compliance and Imperial's Global Export Business.

She continued her personal Duty Free journey when she joined Gebr. Heinemann as Director Corporate Affairs in September 2018. Out of all the global players in the Duty Free industry, Gebr. Heinemann is the only one that is still family owned. In her role as Director Corporate Affairs, Jennifer is responsible for the strategic pillars; Compliance, Communication and Corporate Responsibility.

Dr. Cords also actively spearheads the Duty Free and Travel Retail Business in Trade and Travel Retail Associations, including but not limited to ETRC. She engages for passenger rights, a secure supply chain, non-aeronautical revenue, tourism and the free movement of goods and people.
